horizons project
We’re proud to welcome Megan Watkins, our new Peer and Community Development Co-ordinator, who is part of Bristol’s new Horizons partnership.
Wellspring Settlement will be working with various organisations across Bristol to provide a range of services for people who use drugs and alcohol. This might be stopping completely, cutting down, or using in a safer way. You can find out more about the project, including how to refer yourself, friends and family, support available for young people, and how professionals can refer here
Megan will be working with a team of Peer Mentors who will be using their lived experience of problematic drug and alcohol use to support others at any stage of their recovery journey. They will also work to bridge the gap between drug and alcohol services and the local community through shared activities. Peer Mentors are already involved in some of the regular community activities that are open to anyone, and are helping run these.
art for wellbeing
We currently offer Art for Wellbeing courses for adults in conjunction with South Gloucestershire and Stroud College. This free 12 week course aims to provide a creative outlet for people who may be going through a difficult period, who are looking for a ways to cope through art.
The next course will be running from 22nd April to 1st July 2025, from 10am to 12pm. Places must be booked, and you can find out more about the course and how to book here.
volunteer
Are you looking to support your local community and the people of Lawrence Hill, Barton Hill and Easton by giving something back to them? Then please talk to us about the many and varied volunteering opportunities we have based in our centres. You could help support our BOOST team of advisers or meet the community by supporting our food club on a Wednesday.
It doesn’t matter how much or how little time you can offer, we will work around your needs as much as possible, and we offer access to free in-depth training to help get you started and to keep you up-to-date with any changes and new developments.
