Pride Month Takeover
This Pride Month, Wellspring Settlement proudly celebrates and stands in solidarity with LGBTQ+ communities.
Many of our usual services will be Pride themed, and we’ll be running some activities to celebrate too:
- Our Monday Arts and Crafts group will be making decorations, flags and cake stands to get the Community Hub space ready to celebrate,
- The Alive Gardening group will be planting a Big Pride Flower Bed using flowers and plants that are significant to LGBTQ+ history,
- Youth sessions in the Swannery will involve workshops that encourage respect, curiosity and understanding our differences,
- Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities (closed group) will be exploring identity and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community,
- Family Centre sessions will include craft activities, displays, stories, and information about local Pride events and community resources,
- We will also be hosting a Community Hub Tea Party on Thursday 9th July from 1 to 3pm. Everyone is welcome to come and share food, enjoy some iconic music and meet other people.
The Community Hub space will have information for LGBTQ+ people on where to find support in Bristol, and will be showing films on LGBTQ+ history in Bristol.
Our Trustee, Jacob Withington-Treloar said:
“We have a diverse community here at Wellspring Settlement, and the excellent Pride-themed events the team have planned demonstrate how equality is embedded into what we do. As a newly-married gay trustee at Wellspring Settlement, I encourage everyone to ensure LGBTQ+ people are welcomed into all sections of our diverse community.”
We’re a community of people with different beliefs, backgrounds and life experiences, and we respect that diversity. What connects us is a shared commitment to treating each other with dignity and care. We stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ members and want everyone to feel safe and welcome here. You don’t have to change your personal beliefs to be here.
We do however ask that everyone communicates in ways that are respectful and considerate and avoids language or behaviour that could make others feel excluded, judged, intimidated, targeted or unwelcome.
