Connecting Communities Award for Luis!

Our Youth Work Co-Ordinator, Luis Dias was recognised at the Tender Awards recently, winning a Connecting Communities award!

When Tender ran a Healthy Relationships workshop the Swannery Girls Youth Group at Wellspring, Luis understood the importance of this education and made sure everyone got the most out of the workshop. His rapport with the young women and their school meant they felt comfortable and safe, and engaged with openness and confidence.

Luis and some of the group participants were at the ceremony to collect the award, and the Tender representative who presented Luis with the awards said: “Luis has built important relationships with local schools and was able to ensure this project could have the most impact by hosting it at one of the local secondary schools, during school hours. He must have a particularly brilliant relationship with the school as it allowed the girls to come off timetable for two whole days to participate in the Tender project!
He kept things running smoothly throughout the project with his positive vibes, warm manner and crucially, making sure the girls were all well fed! Most importantly though, this youth worker’s rapport with the group meant they felt comfortable and safe and were therefore ready to engage with openness and confidence.”

Family and Youth Service Manager Elaine said: “The staff team are incredibly proud of Luis and delighted to see his hard work and dedication recognised through this award. Luis brings experience, commitment and care to everything he does, and his ability to build trusted relationships with young people, schools and partners is outstanding. This recognition is a real testament to the positive impact he has on the young people he supports and the wider community.”
